Swim Lessons

Swimming is a fundamental life skill, and the Ardmore Family YMCA offers summer swim lessons each year. Water safety is our main focus, along with swim readiness, stroke development, and establishing a lifelong, healthy approach to water, exercise, and fun.
Swim lessons begin mid-June. Please contact the Ardmore Family YMCA for more details.
Mommy and Me (Parent/child age 18 mo.–3)

Mommy and Me (Parent/child age 18 mo.–3)

Working with a parent, infants/toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun, confidence-building experiences. Parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and proper supervision around water.

Water Safety (Preschool age 3-5)

Water Safety (Preschool age 3-5)

Designed to teach children to be secure and confident around the water, this class prepares the swimmer in basic water safety to help reduce the risk of drowning. Skills include safe water habits, underwater exploration, and how to swim to safety and exit in the event of falling into a body of water.

Intro to Strokes (Youth age 6-11)

Intro to Strokes (Youth age 6-11)

Students are introduced to basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Child Watch

Hours of operation are: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - Noon, Saturday 8:45 AM - Noon, Monday - Thursday 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM.

Our child watch service provides supervised custodial care for children ages six weeks to 8 years old. Child watch is provided for children who are current members on a household YMCA membership. Child watch services may be purchased for $5.00 per hour for those with a day pass, membership types other than household, or visiting guests.

The following policies and procedures are set to ensure a safe and happy experience for those who are in our care.

Check In/Check Out Policies

  • An adult must sign in and sign out the child
  • Provide your workout location
  • Provide an immediate contact/cell number
  • Include any special instructions
  • Return after 1.5 hours. If there is a limited number of children in the child watch, it is the discretion of the child watch supervisor to permit you an extra 30 minutes of time.

Infants

Please provide the following:

  • Pre-made bottles
  • Diapers/wipes (staff will contact you by cellphone to change diaper)
  • Blankets

Behavior

  • If the child cries for more than 20 minutes, you will be called to child-watch. Biting, kicking, spitting at another child or staff member will not be tolerated, and parents will be contacted to remove the child. We reserve the right to discontinue services for poor behavior.

Illness

  • To limit the spread of illnesses, sick children are not permitted in child watch. Please do not bring your child if he or she shows symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or has been diagnosed with a contagious condition. If your child is too sick to attend school, they are too ill to be in child watch. We reserve the right to remove a child who shows symptoms of illness.

Restrooms

  • Child watch employees are not permitted to assist in restrooms; a child must go alone. If your child needs assistance, you will be notified by a YMCA staff member.

Snacks

  • Children are asked not to bring food or drinks, other than pre-made bottles, to child watch.

Birthday Parties

Pool Party (large pool and small warm water pool)

Use of specified pool for 75 minutes and studio party room for 30 minutes

Over 20 swimmers will have an additional fee of $30.00.

Cost: $125 members | $170 non-members

For an additional hour in the pool add $60 members | add $85 non-members

NOTE: Children under 5 must have an adult in the pool.

Gym Rental - Sports Party (older kids) maximum 40

Full use of the gym for 90 minutes and 30 minutes in-studio party room

Cost: $125 members | $170 non-members

For an additional hour in the gym add $60 members | add $85 non-members

Gym Rental (younger kids)

Full use of the gym for 75 minutes and 45 minutes in-studio party room

Cost: $125 members | $170 non-members

For an additional hour in the gym add $60 members | add $85 non-members

Gym and Swim Party

Swim 45 minutes, gym time 45 minutes and 30 minutes in-studio party room

Cost $150 members | $185 non-members

For an additional hour in the gym/pool add $60 members | add $85 non-members

Dance Party

Use of the studio 2 party room for 1 hour 45 minutes

Includes use of dance space and dance instructor for 1 hour

Cost: $125 members | $170 non-members

Kids Club

Kids Club is a supervised gym, yoga, and swim program designed to keep kids active and engaged during the summer months. Kids Club runs from June 1st - July 30th.

Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - Noon. Program is free for members and a $10 day pass per child for nonmembers.

M/W/F: Gym Games 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM and Pool Time 10:45 AM to 11:50 AM. Tu/Th: Gym Games 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Yoga with Maile 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, and Pool Time 10:45 AM to 11:50 AM.

Pool Time will be in the large pool. Swim tests will be given for all swimmers. YMCA does not provide lifejackets; therefore, non-swimmers will be required to bring lifejackets or floaties. Swimsuits and towels are required to participate in Pool Time.

Teens in Training

Weight Room Workout

For pre-teens/teens 10 - 14 years old.

Monday and Wednesdays 11:00-11:30 AM | Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:45 - 4:15 PM

Your teen will work directly with a YMCA certified personal trainer in this small group training class. They will gain strength and endurance all while learning proper techniques and weight room etiquette.

Registration required. Members only program. Discount teen memberships available for 12 - 17 year olds.

Youth Fitness Program

For kids 10-14 years of age

Encouraging youth to be healthy and active is one of our main mission at the Ardmore Family YMCA. During our weight room fitness class participants will learn healthy lifestyle principles, fitness center etiquette, and safe lifting techniques.
